Amanda Bossard, fresh out from Anchorage High School in the year 1992, started studying marine biology in 1992. Bossard launched her career as a commercial fish worker in 1999. She started working at the vessel F/V Sunset a 65' halibut-schooner and was later converted into a Salmon tender, in the name of Murat Aritan who was employed in commercial fishing since 1993. Bossard and Aritan have been married since 1993 and are working together to claim their place in their respective industries. They are supporters of conservative and lucrative renewable resources for seafood management. Otolith is a direct wholesale seafood distributor founded within Philadelphia in 2007, by a mother of two young children: Bella age 3 and Andre age 1. Its name is a sweet reference to her deep fish biology knowledge and her husband's extensive involvement with the fishing industry, frequently keeping them from each other for 5 months or longer when they are focused on their financial and environmental goals which are a reflection of their individuality and dedication to the community in which they live. Bossard and their son Andre and daughter Isabella will return home to Southeast Alaska every summer as deckhands during the wild salmon harvest. A small 42-salmon troller, using hooks and line to capture their salmon, they work with Aritan for two months of selling to local processors. They also continue to increase their direct market seafood products sold through Otolith Sustainable Seafood by way buying the customized processing capabilities of small processors to create unique wild seafood products that reflect their commitment to quality and the environment. Amanda Bossard was hired as a News 12 Anchor/MMJ and News 12 Brooklyn in November of 2015.
